Mr. Hustle Award

_______________________________________________

An award developed to recognize all of the "little things," the Mr. Hustle Award is presented to the team's hardest worker.

More than likely, you'll find Mr. Hustle being the first to grab a rake, plug a base, or pick up equipment.  More importantly, the recipient of the Mr. Hustle Award exemplifies what Viper Baseball is all about:
dedication, encouragement, respect, and well...hustle.

Selected by the Varsity coaching staff at the conclusion of the season, the Mr. Hustle Award is their way of saying, "thank you."

2010 Mr. Hustle - Ruben Rivas

Ruben left no doubt in anyone's mind that he defines Mr. Hustle.  There wasn't a day that went by this season that Ruben wasn't the first to do what we asked, and never once complained about it.  If you lined up everyone's equipment, Ruben would be the only person that could tell you the owner of every glove, because he always made sure his teammates were prepared.  Ruben's hard work paid off.  He began to earn his way into the lineup near the end of the season, and not only did he earn a spot in the first playoff game in school history, he led the way getting two of the team's four hits, and reaching base all three of his at-bats.  Ruben has set the bar for those that follow him in this program, and is our 2010 Mr. Hustle.

2009 Mr. Hustle - Michael Myers

Mike was one of six juniors on the 2009 Varsity team, and he embraced the role of an upperclassman from day one of workouts.  Mike embodied everything you'd expect of a leader, and did it naturally without effort.  Not only is he an example for his teammates on the field, but Mike leads the way in the classroom as well.  He treats his peers, teachers, and coaches with nothing but respect, and we're proud to say that he represents our team, the program, and Verrado High School.
